My Story

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley.  The village is inhabited by both Quiché Indians and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe.  Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small, specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other smalltown tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area.  Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high, and the children are very needy.

It is a joy to greet you for the very first time. I am Yeikon Alejandro Natareno Argueta, I would like to start by telling you about me. I was born on June 17, 2020. I am a healthy 4-year-old boy. I have not attended school yet. I like playing soccer and riding a bicycle. My favorite dish is chicken with sauce. I like blue, and my favorite pet is the dog. I only have one brother. My mother takes me to the feeding program. We walk, and it takes us 25 minutes to arrive.

I live in a humble rented house. My parents pay Q800.00 = $ 106.67 every month. The house has two rooms including a separate kitchen. It is made of tin sheet roof, cemented floor and block walls. We have the main services such as running water and electricity that my father pays for every time. Our domestic animals are two dogs and 8 chickens. About my family, my father´s name is Robin Gudiel Natareno Lopez. He earns a living by working as a mechanic. On the other side, my mother´s name is Adrea Esperanza Argueta Solis. She is a housewife and raises chickens for our consumption. As a family, we attend church. We have many needs, but the main ones are clothes and food. Thank God, my whole family is healthy. I just want to add that my mother gave all this information to the LW team for you. Thank you so much for your attention. I hope you are doing great in your country.

Many blessings,

Yeikon Alejandro Natareno Argueta
