Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiche is always a challenge
I have joy in my heart about writing this letter and sharing a little about my life and my family. My name is Sheily Adela de la Cruz Us. I was born on June 10th, 2019, and I am 5 years old. Thanks to God, I have the opportunity to attend school and I am in preschool. I love orange color and dogs. My favorite food is Cheese with tomato sauce. Regarding my health, I suffer from bronchial asthma. I need to have my treatment to stay well, but when I catch a cold is when I suffer more from it. I ask for your prayers for God to take control of my health. We attend a Christian Church. My father´s name is Martin Eliseo de la Cruz Aguilar. He works as a mason’s helper, and he covers all our expenses. My mother´s name is Maria Us Morente. She weaves typical blouses from Chichicastenango department. When she finishes a blouse, she sells it and with the money she earns helps at home with the expenses. I have one sister. We live in my paternal grandparents´ house, and we share our expenses with them. The house has two rooms, but we use one of them. It has a separate kitchen. It is made of block walls, tin sheet roof and concrete floor. Thankfully, we have running water and electricity services. We have hens and pigs as domestic animals. We are a humble family, and our greatest need is groceries. We walk for twenty minutes to arrive at the feeding program. I tell you that my mom helped me to give this information to an Evangelism teacher, and I am happy to share my history with you.
Big Hugs,
Sheily Adela de la Cruz Us
