Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley. Both Quiche Mayans and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry) inhabit the village. The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two-room homes usually constructed of either wood or adobe. Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small and specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers, and many other small-town tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area. Even with all of this, the poverty level is extremely high, and the children are very needy.
Hello! This is Irma Maria Yolanda Jimon Gonzalez, and I greet you affectionately. In this opportunity, I want to share my information with you. I was born on November 5, 2019. Today, I am a healthy 4-year-old girl. I still do not attend school, so I stay home. My favorite pastime is playing with my toy cookware and I like cats. I love eating chicken and rice and my favorite color is pink. The people who I live with are my parents, siblings, grandparents, one of my aunts, and her children. My mother, Yolanda Gonzalez Musia, is doing well. She works hard by selling homemade snacks and washing clothes for other people to provide my siblings and me with all the necessities to survive. Our frequent needs are food, clothes, and shoes. I have one brother and two sisters. Fortunately, they are doing well. As for my father, let me tell you that he works as a day laborer. However, he does not help us economically because he has problems with alcohol. His name is Hector Jimon Ruiz, and I beg you to pray for him.
The house where my family and I live belongs to one of my aunts. She allows us to live there for free, but we help her with the household expenses like electricity and running water bills. The house is made of adobe, a tin sheet roof, and a ceramic floor. It has four rooms and a separate kitchen. We do not raise domestic animals because of a lack of space. The feeding program is a 15-minute walk from my house. Being part of LW-Adopt A Child is not only a great blessing for me, but for my whole family too. Before saying goodbye, I want you to know that my mother helped me to give all this information to a teacher of the LW evangelism team. Take care of yourself!
Looking forward to hearing from you soon,
Irma Maria Yolanda Jimon Gonzalez
