My Story

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley. Both Quiche Mayans and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry) inhabit the village. The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes usually constructed of either wood or adobe. Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small and specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers, and many other small-town tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area. Even with all of this, the poverty level is extremely high, and the children are very needy.

This is Rudy Abdiel Chingo Tzoy, and it is a great blessing to greet you. Before telling you about myself, I want you to know that my mom and I gave all this information to a teacher of the LW evangelism team. I was born on February 26, 2020, so I am four years old. Fortunately, I am in good health. I still do not attend school because of my age, so I stay home. What I enjoy the most is playing soccer with my brother in my free time. My favorite color is red, I like cats, and my favorite food is French fries. Let me tell you that I attend church with my family. I only have one brother. My father's name is Juan Isaias Chingo Jimon, and he works as a mechanic to support our family economically. My mother's name is Catarina Evelin Tzoy Ruiz, and she works part-time as a domestic employee in order to help at home with the expenses. One of our frequent needs is food.

We live in a rented house, and we pay Q600=$77.69 monthly. It is made of bricks, a concrete roof, and a granite floor. It has two rooms, electricity, and running water. We built an improvised kitchen in the hallway. We have one cat and some chickens at home. I am so happy to have delicious meals for free at the feeding program. My mom takes me there and we usually walk ten minutes from our home to get there on time. I say goodbye to you now, but I appreciate you so much for taking the time to read my story. See you later!

Cordiality yours,

Rudy Abdiel Chingo Tzoy
