My Story

Hello! My name is Maria Felisa Zamora Ordonez, and I am writing to tell you a little about me. I was born on April 21, 1950, and I am now 74 years old. I am married, and my husband’s name is Osvaldo Esquit; he is 75 years old. We are elderly, so we no longer have a stable job, but we do our best to cover our needs. My husband works as a farmer for the local municipality some days a week, and he earns Q250.00 quetzals (about $33) per week. I sometimes go to gather firewood for our use. We have four sons and three daughters; all of them are already adults. They do not support us since they have to cover their family expenses.

We live in our own house, and we share it with our sons and their families. The house has four rooms and one kitchen. We have running water and electricity, and my sons help to pay these bills. We only use one of the rooms, and it is made of tin sheets with a concrete and dirt floor. Unfortunately, it is not in good condition. The tin sheets are damaged, and when it rains, the water comes in. There are many spaces between the walls and roof’s tin sheets, so we have to cover them with nylon. We have some furniture, and it is very old. I would like to ask you to pray for us so that we can obtain the resources to fix our roof.

We are always in need of groceries. I have five hens at home. I am in good health, and I attend Sinai Assembly of God Church. I tell you that I walk for five minutes to arrive at the feeding program. I am very grateful to be part of Living Water. I thank you for taking the time to read my letter, and I hope you find it interesting. May God bless you!

Cordially yours

Maria Felisa Zamora Ordonez
