My Story

Hello! My name is Jonida Spaholli. I am 39 years old and my birthday is on May 24^th. I am doing well and in good health. My husband died many years ago. He fell off the roof of our flat, where we live, accidently. It was winter and the roof had a lot of snow and ice. He tried to fix something, but he accidently felt off and lost his life. We have two daughters from our marriage. They are both frequenting school and are doing well with the lessons. When my husband died, it was not easy for both of my daughters because they were young. I have devoted myself not to marry and stay single so that I can always be close to my daughters and raise them. The government is not helping much. Our family only recieves a small amount as help, which doesn’t cover our need for food for the month. I am jobless and need to stay in the house to look after my children as well as after my mother in law who lives in the same house with us. We live in the town of Pogradec, in an old flat that doesn’t offer appropriated living conditions, even though, we are thankful that we have our house belonging to us and this way we don’t have to pay rent. We became part of the church in Pogradec and first, my daughters were registered in the program. After a year or so, this opportunity was given to me and I am thankful that I am being helped physically and spiritually. I come to the church services together with my daughters. We benefit from the  food packages we recieve from Living Water. We live with the pension that my mother in law receives as retired from her previous job as well as from a small assistance that is provided by the local government.
