My Story

Hello! I greet you in the name of Jesus and I hope you are doing fine. I want to tell you a little about my family and me through this letter. I am Heidy Mariela Calachij Suares and I am 10 years old.  As a family, we continue attending the Catholic Church every Monday. We are grateful to the LW evangelism team for their encouraging words to me during the visit.  This year, I studied the 2^nd grade at school, received face-to-face classes every day, and learned a lot better with this study method. Nowadays, school fees are expensive, but my mother made an effort to support me with school expenses.  My dream is to finish my primary school. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, but I would like to learn Spanish in order to have good communication with others. My favorite celebration of the year is Christmas because our custom is to prepare “tamales” (a typical dish) and to light fireworks. I like to drink hot beverages. I do not celebrate my birthday due to a lack of financial resources. Among sports, I prefer soccer. Thank God, my family and I are in good health.

My mother`s name is Micaela Suar Lares. She is 26 years old. At the moment, she continues doing chores at home, taking care of us, and she raises hens to sell and gets some income. My stepfather`s name is Jose Maria Morente. He is 23 years old. Currently, he continues earning a living by working as a day laborer. Sometimes, he contributes to home expenses. In addition, he grows corn for our family’s consumption. As a needy and humble family, our current needs are corn, groceries, and clothes.  We are very grateful to Living Water because we have been blessed with meals, medical and dental, and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gift that I received recently through LW. I hope you enjoy reading my letter. May God bless you greatly!
