My Story

It is a pleasure to greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus and I hope you are doing fine alongside your lovely family. In this opportunity, I want to share some news about my family and me through this letter. First of all, my family and I are grateful to Living Water because thanks to your support I receive medical and dental attention in the clinics. In addition, I have a meal and spiritual support at the Feeding Program. I want to let you know that we continue attending the Prince of Peace Church twice a week. Thank you to the LW evangelism team for their encouraging words to us during the visit, so I am sure of my salvation in Christ. My mother`s name is Juana De La Cruz Jimon. She is 35 years old. Currently, she does chores at home, does farming, and washes clothes for others. In addition, she raises hens, pigs, sheep, and cows to sell and get some income. As you know, my stepfather abandoned the family some years ago. Nowadays, we continue living in my grandmother´s house. Her name is Rufina De La Cruz. She works as a farmer and raises domestic animals to sell, and they share home expenses. We grow corn and black beans for our family´s consumption. As a humble family, our current needs are groceries, corn, and clothes. Thank God, my family and I are doing fine.

My name is Sandra De La Cruz Jimon and I am 14 years old. This year, I am in 3rd grade at school.  I receive face-to-face classes every day and I am learning a lot with this study method because my teachers give me a good explanation about homework. Thank God, my father is making an effort to support my sister and me at school in spite of the school fees being so expensive and that he does not have a stable job. In the future, I want to find a job in Guatemala City and support my family. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish and improve my communication with others. Winter is my favorite season of the year because I like to run in the rain.  I like to drink “atol quebrantado” (a hot beverage made of corn). I do not celebrate my birthday due to a lack of money. Among sports, I like soccer. Thank you for the Christmas gift that I received through LW Adopt-A-Child in December. I hope you like to read my letter. May God bless you and take care of you!

Huge hugs,

Sandra De La Cruz Jimon
