My Story

It is a beautiful day to say hello to you and I hope our Heavenly Father is taking care of you! Praise the Lord my family and I attend Ebenezer Methodist Church; we go on Mondays. We trust our salvation in God. My family and I are in good health, thanks to the Lord. My biological mother was Silvia de la Cruz Morente, but she passed away when I was young. My father is Jesus Simaj Morente, but he has another family and does not support me in any way. He is a farmer. My father's sister Sabina Simaj Garcia has been the one who has taken care of me since I was one year old. She sells “atol” (hot beverage) during the week and food on Sunday in the market; she does her best to get income and supply our needs. We do not raise animals or grow anything since we do not have space to do it.

I am Sara Isabela Simaj de la Cruz, and I am an 11-year-old girl. I am repeating second grade; I receive classes at school and my learning is going well now. I am fortunate to have the support of my aunt at school. My dream is to become a soloist and praise the Lord. My native language is K'iche´ Mayan dialect, and I would like to learn to speak Spanish because I would like to communicate better with other people. Football is the sport I like the most. The climate I prefer is winter, I love running in the rain. I want to tell you that my favorite juice is the apple-flavored one. I get so happy when my birthday comes, and my aunt Sabina prepares a lunch to share with my close relatives; I enjoy my special day. Being part of Living Water has blessed my life with the support I receive in many ways, and I appreciate this so much because it is so helpful for me. At home, the primary needs are groceries and corn. Sending much love. May God bless you greatly!

Bunch of hugs,

Sara Isabela Simaj de la Cruz
