My Story

Hello! It is my pleasure to greet you by this letter. I want to share with you some news about my family and me. This is Jesenia Carmelina Ruiz Garcia and my age is 11 years old. At the moment, we are attending Assembly of God Church twice a week. Thank God we trust in him, and we are sure of our salvation. My mother`s name is Irma Leonarda Garcia Morente and she is 26 years old. Currently, she is working in a tortillas business in Guatemala City. My father’s name is Pedro Ruiz Gomez and he is 27 years old. Currently, he also works in a grocery store in Guatemala City. So, while they work, my grandparents take care of me and support me with some expenses. We get in communication with my parents, and they provide economically for home expenses. My grandmother is Manuela Morente Garcia. She does the chores at home. In addition, she raises hens and turkeys to sell and get some income and also for our family`s consumption. We grow corn also for our family. Thank God all my family and I are in good health.

This year, I am in 5th. grade at school, and I am receiving face-to-face classes every day. I like this study method because I understand better how to do the homework. My parents strive to support me at school. Nowadays, school fees are expensive, and sometimes, it is difficult to cover all expenses. When I grow up, I would like to become a policewoman. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish to communicate better with other people. My favorite celebration of the year is Easter time because we are accustomed to eating bread and honey to celebrate.  My favorite beverage is Coca-Cola. What I would like to have for my birthday is a cake, but due to the lack of resources, sometimes is difficult. Among sports, I prefer to play soccer. My family is very grateful to Living Water because we have been blessed with meals, dental and medical clinics, and spiritual support. Thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive at the year’s end. We are a humble family so our current needs are groceries and corn. Sending all my love. Every blessing to you!

Warm regards,

Jesenia Carmelina Ruiz Garcia
