My Story

It is my pleasure to greet you through this hoping you are receiving many blessings from God! Due to personal problems, we do not attend church, but we believe in God. We appreciate the LW staff because they shared the gospel and gave us encouraging words to seek God. I want to ask for your prayers for my father who has lumps with pain in one of his arms. He visited a doctor, and for now, he is just taking pills for the pain. The rest of my family is in good health. My mother is Olga Simaj Riz, and she is 37 years old. She is a housewife and raises hens for selling to support our family. My father is Camilo Hernandez de la Cruz, and he is 40 years old. Because of the pain in his arm, he is not able to work. However, he does farm work at home and grows corn and black beans for our consumption. My family and I travel to pick coffee beans on the coast from November to January to get some income.

This is Camilo Hernandez Simaj, and I am an 8-year-old boy. I am a first-grade student; my classes are at school, and I understand the lessons that my teacher explains. My parents strive every day to support me at school in spite of the lack of resources. When I grow up, I would like to join the national army. I love drinking coffee because it is delicious. I like to play football in my free time; it is the sport I like the most. On my birthday, my parents buy me new clothes; it feels so nice to wear them. I like Christmas time because people light colorful firecrackers; the show around is cool. My native language is K'iche´ Mayan dialect, and I would like to learn to speak Spanish because I would like to communicate better with other people. Being part of Living Water has been a great blessing for me because I receive tasty meals and medical attention in the clinics which is a big help for me and my family. My family needs groceries, corn, clothes and medicines. I leave you for now but I send many hugs. Every kind of blessing!

Hugs with much love,

Camilo Hernandez Simaj
