My Story

It is a beautiful day to greet you hoping you are blessed alongside your family! I am so happy to tell you that my family and I attend Sovereign King Church, and we go on Mondays and Thursdays. We have Jesus in our hearts, but we appreciate so much the encouraging words that LW staff gave us this time. Thankfully, I am healthy and so is my family. My father is Ricardo Pop Maas, and he is 33 years old. He makes a living by farming the land and asa  day laborer to support the family. My mother is Estela Mejia Nas, and she is 31 years old. She is a housewife and tries to contribute to the income by washing clothes for some neighbors. Moreover, she raises hens; sometimes, she sells them to get some money. At home, we grow corn for our consumption.

This is Leidy Odalis Maricela Pop Mejia, and my current age is 9 years old. I am a third-grade student, and my learning has improved since my classes are at school. My mother feels sad when she cannot help us with our homework. Since everything is expensive, my parents occasionally give me money to buy some snacks at school. When I grow up, I would like to be a doctor. I speak Spanish, but I would like to learn to speak the Poqomchi Mayan dialect; it is spoken in the town I was born, Santa Cruz Verapaz, Guatemala. My favorite drink is orange soda. Playing football is so much fun; it is my favorite sport. I like Christmas because some of our relatives come to visit us; we have joyful times together. Being hugged by my family on my birthday is something I love; they make me feel so special. Being part of the feeding program is a great blessing for me; I appreciate the support I receive. My family needs groceries, corn, and clothes. I say goodbye to you for now. Many and rich blessings on you!

Hugs with all my love,

Leidy Odalis Maricela Pop Mejia
