My Story

Hello! I hope rom the bottom of my heart that you are in good health and receiving the Lord`s blessings with your loved ones. In this opportunity, I want to share with you some news about my family and me. I am Pedro Camilo Portuguez Ajqui and I am 7 years old, but I will turn 8 years old in August. My mother`s name is Santos Portuguez Ajqui and she is 24 years old. Nowadays, she does chores at home and continues washing clothes for others and also raising hens and pigs to sell and get some income. As you know, my father abandoned us many years ago. Fortunately, my stepfather Eduardo Garcia Sac supports us with home expenses. At the moment, he continues working as a day laborer. Moreover, he travels to the coast to pick coffee during the harvest. We grow corn and coriander for our family`s consumption. We are a humble family, so our current needs are groceries and corn. Currently, we are attending the Church of Christ. Thank you to the LW evangelism team who encouraged us to attend the church. By the grace of God, all my family and I are in good health.

Thankfully, this year I am in 1st grade at school. I am receiving face-to-face classes, and I like this study method because I learn faster. My stepfather and mother strive to support me with school expenses even though they do not have a stable job, and also the school fees are very expensive. Sometimes it is very difficult to cover all expenses. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish and improve my communication with others. My favorite celebrations of the year are Christmas and “New Year” because we spend more time with the family. I prefer hot drinks such as: “Incaparina” (it is a beverage made with soy and corn flour) and “mosh” (it is made with oatmeal). Among sports, I prefer to play soccer. I do not celebrate my birthday due to a lack of economic resources, but I would like to have a delicious cake. We are grateful to Living Water because I receive the meals, medical and dental attention, and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive at year´s end. May God bless you greatly!

Warm greetings,

Pedro Camilo Portuguez Ajqui
