My Story

Hello! My name is Joel Tocka. I am 7 years old, and my birthday is on November 26th. I am doing well and my health is good. My favorite color is blue, and my future dream is to become football player. I go to school in first grade and enjoy the time I spend there with my classmates and friends, learning and spending time playing after the lessons. The subject I enjoy studying best at school is ABC and reading books. After school I eat lunch and go out to play with my friends who live nearby. The weather is nice and sunny, and we get to play for longer outside. I still enjoy playing with toys and now that the weather is nice, I sit and play outside, in front of my house, together with my younger brother. I enjoy playing with ball, while my friends and I play on the road that is nearby. I live in a village near the town of Prrenjas, we go often to this town, especially on weekends, when they have the open market day. I have four members in my family, my father, mother and my younger brother. My grandparents live next to our house, so they are also part of our family. They look after me and my brother during the time that my father and mother are working. I like to watch over my younger brother, especially during the time my mother cooks or cleans the house. We play together with his toys, and he enjoys hearing me reading my schoolbooks. My father worked during the last year where he had an open opportunity, being hired by different people and doing various jobs, in agriculture or construction. During this year, he is working in a car wash that is near the national road. He washes the cars and lorries that stop by his car wash. He earns very little by doing this kind of job.  My mother has started to work this year in the town. She got hired by a company where they clean fish and sea fruits for market, or for restaurants. She and many other ladies work there daily, and we are happy that she has a monthly pay. My mother has also planted the vegetable garden and during this season, she is busy watering the vegetables, till they grow and are ready to collect. My father and mother work together in the garden for a few hours each day. The income in our family is still low because both my parents get paid very little in their jobs. We are a family in need, and all of us are thankful to the program of Adopt a Child for the physical help. I receive food packages every two months. I frequent the Bible classes, church services and the other activities that the church organizes. The Adopt a Child provides free medical and dental care, once every year and I am happy to go to the dentist when the team appoints me to go to the dental clinic. Thank you from my heart for all your care and support. God bless you!
