My Story

Hello! My name is Kadife Mece. My birthday is on May 22, 1956 and at present I am 69 years old. I am married and my husband’s name is Rexhep Mece. We live in an old house which doesn't offer appropriate living conditions. In our family we are six people. We live together with our son's family. His wife suffers from schizophrenia. I have a grandson and I am doing my best to care for him to supply his living needs. Our daughter died and we took her child in our home in order to care for him. His name is Olti. In the past, I used to work as a shop keeper and as cook in a kindergarten. I also worked for a short time as economist. Now I am a housewife. Speaking about my health, I suffer from high blood pressure and diabetes. My husband and I are both retired and we have very small pensions to cover the expenses that are needed in order to care for this little child. The father of this child has mental illness and for this reason, he is unable to care for his son. Even that he is receiving an invalid pension, he spends it all to himself, and we don’t blame him for doing so. He is not responsible due to his illness to help. When my daughter died, my grandson was three months only. After all that happened, we took the boy to care for him. We try to care for him, but we can’t offer to reach the expenses needed. My son emigrates to Greece, where he works 3 to 6 months every year. There he has different jobs in agriculture and in construction. I have planted a vegetable garden, and I grow tomatoes, beans, onions, cucumbers etc. for our self consumption.

The LW/Adopt a Child church meets for the weekly service on Monday and Twezday. During those days of the week, the church has Bible classes for small children as well as three Bible studies in small groups for ladies and men. The children ,widow and people in need,who are registered in the sponsorship programme of Adopt a Child are constantly every eight weeks receiving a food package containing pasta, rice, oil, sugar, etc. This package has been a blessing to each registered family member  to the village.
