My Story

It is a wonderful day to send warm greetings. My name is Maynor Siriaco Morente de la Cruz, and I will turn 13 years old in June of this year. Fortunately, we are Christians and attend Prince of Peace Church; we go on Wednesday and Friday. I trust my salvation in Christ. I thank you so much for the encouraging words to attend the church that the LW team gave to me. Gratefully, we are in good health. My father is Macario Morente, and he is 37 years old. He does farm work, works as a day laborer and goes to cut sugar cane on the coast to support our family expenses. My mother is Rogelia De La Cruz, and she is 27 years old. She is a housewife and weaves typical items for selling and get some income. We raise hens, pigs and goats. In addition, we grow corn; however, it is not enough to cover the whole year. Therefore, we buy some when we run out.

I am a seventh-grade student and I take classes at school. For me, it is better because if I have doubts, I ask my teacher for help to solve them. I thank my father because he is striving to support me at school. He does not earn much, and the economic situation is not good. I want to tell you that my native language is Quiche dialect, and I can speak a little Spanish, but I would like to improve it. When I am older, I would like to be a driver; I think it is interesting. Something I like to drink is orange juice because it is delicious. I enjoy playing, but the sport I like the most is football. Regarding the climate, I like the winter season because there is a good chance to grow crops. I like my birthday because on that day I wear new clothes; it feels so good. We are a humble family, so our greatest needs are corn, food and shoes. Receiving the meals in the feeding program is a great blessing for me and also for my family.
