My Story

Hello! Let me introduce myself; my name is Wilson Antonio Ciprian Luis. I am an 8-year-old boy. I thank God for keeping my family and me healthy. I am in second grade, and I receive classes at school 2 or 3 days per week. After I do my homework, I help my grandfather with the crops. I thank God because the feeding program is already open after a long time being closed due to the pandemic. I love to eat fried chicken in the program. I walk one hour to get to the program. I live with my grandparents; my grandpa is a farmer and my grandma is a housewife. They take care of me. My father works as a farmer and day laborer, but he also goes to pick coffee beans on the coast during the harvest. My mother is a housewife. My parents live in San Andres Sajcabaja, which is another town of Quiche, and they send money to pay some of my needs. My grandparents buy some snacks and share time with us at home. We do not celebrate Christmas at home.

We are attending Prince of Peace Church, and it is located about one hour from home. We felt sad when we could not attend church due to the restrictions, but we are having normal services at church. My grandparents’ house is made of adobe, tin sheets roof and a dirt floor; there are two rooms. The kitchen is made entirely of tin sheets. We do not have water or electricity services; fortunately, one of our neighbors shares electricity with us, and we get water from a natural spring with the help of a hose. We share the house and expenses with some of my uncles. Unfortunately, the tin sheet roof is old and has holes, so we need to change them soon because in winter the water gets inside the house. The pandemic affected us due to the lack of work and because my family could not go to work on the coast as they used to do. However, God provided for our necessities, and in addition, we received the food parcels from Living Water. Each product in the bag was so useful to my family. At home, our priority needs are groceries and corn. Finally, I want to let you know that the LW team called us and asked for this updated information, so my mother provided it to them over the phone. I hope to receive news from you soon. May God bless you!

Lots of love,

Wilson Antonio Ciprian Luis
