My Story

Hello! My name is Yeison, and I am glad to share my last news with you. I hope it finds you doing well. My family and I do not attend any church at the moment. Fortunately, my mother could listen to the gospel thanks to a teacher of the LW evangelism team. He also used that moment to collect my information for you. My mother’s name is Paula Hernadez and she is 35 years old. She is a busy housewife. She also washes clothes for other people to get income and help my father economically. My father’s name is Domingo Coj and he is about 55 years old. People pay him for farming the land and driving them to different places in his own pickup. Fortunately, neither of my parents is sick. Our economy is limited. We need clothes and groceries at home. Fortunately, we receive help from the feeding program. It is a meaningful project for us because we have received food and medicines.

We have some hens and pigs at home. We also grow corn and beans for our consumption. I turned sixteen years old in August. What I love the most about celebrating my birthday is receiving new clothes. I decided to stop studying because I prefer to work. Nowadays, I make a living as a day laborer and farmer to help my family financially. I would love to change my job and get a better income by working as a driver. Christmas is my favorite holiday because I enjoy burning firecrackers and eating delicious tamales. I love drinking Incaparina (a typical hot beverage). My native language is the K’iche dialect. I also would like to speak Spanish to get better job opportunities. Soccer is the most popular sport in my country, so it is my favorite. I leave you now, but I send many greetings to you.

Kind regards,

Yeison Fabian Coj Hernandez
