My Story

Hello! I greet you in the name of Jesus and I hope you are doing fine alongside your loved ones. I want to share a little about my family and me in this opportunity. My mother`s name is Santos Ruiz Hernandez.  She is 28 years old. Nowadays, she continues doing chores at home, taking care of the family, raising hens to sell and get some income. I want to let you know that my stepfather Henry Guarcas abandoned the family 1 year ago, so now my grandfather Sotero Ruiz Luis is working as a farmer in order to help my mother with home expenses. He is 59 years old. Moreover, he grows corn, bananas, and “lima” (a kind of citric like lemon) for our family`s consumption. In addition, my uncle Alfredo Ruiz Hernandez works as a farmer and he also contributes financially to our family expenses. He is 30 years old. As a humble family, our current needs are corn, groceries, and clothes. At the moment, we continue attending the Catholic Church every Wednesday. We are grateful to the LW evangelism team who shared the gospel with my mother and for their encouraging words to us during the visit. As a family, we have already received Jesus in our hearts.  I want to ask for your prayers for my younger sister.  Her name is Genesis Petrona.  She is 2 years old, but she was born with a cleft lip. Unfortunately, she is not receiving medical treatment due to a lack of financial resources. By the grace of God, my family and I are in good health.

I am Rufina Alejandra Paola Ruiz Hernandez. I am 8 years old.  This year I am in 2nd grade at school. I receive face-to-face classes every day. I am learning a lot with this study method along with my classmates. Nowadays, my grandfather and uncle are making an effort to support me at school in spite of the school fees being so expensive. Sometimes, it is very difficult for them to cover every school expense because they do not have a stable job. My dream is to become a dancing girl. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish in order to have good communication with others. My favorite season of the year is Christmas because our custom is to light fireworks and eat grapes. I like to drink fruit juices. What I like for my birthday is to have a delicious cake and some gifts. Among sports, I like to play soccer. My family is grateful to Living Water because I receive the meals, medical and dental attention, and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gift that you sent to me at the end of the year through LW.  May God bless you and take care of you!

Warm wishes,

Rufina Alejandra Paola Ruiz Hernandez
