My Story

Hello! My name is Klea Sofi. I am 16 years old and my birthday is on December 7th. I am doing well and enjoy good health. My favorite color is black and my future dream is to become a dentist. I like to study somatology in the future. I frequent first grade high school and enjoy learning. My favorite subjects at school is English. My town is touristic and we have a lot of visitors coming, especially during the summer. I am learning English so that I can communicate. Usually my friends and I meet and have walks right after we get done with our lessons at school. We walk by the lake and have a nice time talking and having fun. As soon as I go into the house, I spend the rest of the day inside and first of all, I contribute to help my mother with the housekeeping. I like to study during the evenings as I stay in our living room and read. The living room is the only warm room in our house. Whenever my friends and I go to the town, or whenever my family chooses to take us to dinner in a restaurant, I choose to consume Pizza. This is my favorite food at present for me and I can consume pizza at any time. My family and I live in Verdova and this village is very close to Pogradec. I have six persons in my family. My father has died five years before and this has caused my mother to return and live in the house of my grandparents, where she was raised as child. I have a brother and a sister. My brother is five years old and my sister is 13 years old. They are both in the program and we benefit special care offered from Adopt a Child. I am the oldest of my siblings and I am taking care of them during the day, checking my sister homework before she delivers it to the teacher and watching over my brother when he plays so that my mother can have more time to do whatever needs to get done from her. We are raised without our father and the government has delivered to us a social amount just to be a bit of help to us financially. My mother is working to provide for our family. She has found a job as cleaning lady in a restaurant. She earns too less doing this job, but we are happy that she has the possibility to work and provide for us. My grandparents are retired from their previous jobs. They receive very small pensions. Sometimes they help us when we need more food or whenever we need to pay the bills for water and electricity. We are poor and live with very low income. We are also challenged in many other ways. I am very happy that I have been part of the program of Adopt a Child together with my brother and sister and while frequenting the Bible classes and church services, we are receiving food packages. Thank you for all your support and care to us and God bless you!
