My Story

Hello! My name is Kejsi Leka. I am 14 years old and my birthday is on January 17^th.  I am doing well and in good health. My favorite color is white and my future dream is to study and become an architect . I started to frequent the eighth grade at school and enjoy learning. My favorite subject at school is English. During the first two weeks of September, my parents have bought for me a few school supplies that I needed for the start of the new school year. We get the books for free, even that they are very old and used form previous pupils. As soon as my friends and I finish school for the day, we usually get together and play volleyball or other games that are typical for girls. We play in the sport field of the school and also in the roads. I spend a while inside the house helping my mother during the time that she deals with housekeeping. During the weekends, we have a market day in our village and I like to go there and see the people who come to buy and sell products from their fields or animals. Many people from different village come to Proptisht during the market day and the roads get crowdy. I go there with my friends to hang out for a while.  

My family and I live in one of the community centers of Pogradec. My house offers appropriated living conditions. I have five persons containing my family and they are my father, mother and my two sisters.My oldest sister cares for me to study my school books and to do the homework that the teacher gives to me. I like to sit and watch cartoons with my younger sister so that I can care for her when my mother gets too busy doing things around the house. Same as I, my sisters benefit help from the sponsorship programme of Adopt a Child as we frequent the activities of the church twice every week. My father is emigrating in Greece for six months during the year. There he is working in construction and he provides income for us. We miss him very much during the six months that he is not with us, but we are happy that he has a job to provide for our needs. He has his own car that he drives to go to Greece. When he is in the village, he drives us as family to go to the nearest towns, even that we don’t get to go very often. My family owns land in the village and my parents deal with agriculture. My mother usually plants vegetables in the garden and we enjoy fresh products as potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, onions, beans, etc. She collects the products from the garden that we have not consumed and preserves them in cans so that we can consume these products during winter. My father helps her with the gardening. Around our land and garden, we have also got fruit trees as apples, plums, grapes, etc. My mother is collecting these fruits and she makes for us jam or juice for consumption. My parents are not dealing with livestock. Cows or sheep are beneficial, but they consume very much food and it takes lots of effort to care for them. We live with low income and are challenged financially and in many other ways, living in the village. Thank you for your generous support to me and God bless you!The LW/Adopt a Child church meets for the weekly service on Monday and Wednezday. During those days of the week, the church has Bible classes for small children as well as Bible studies in small groups for ladies and men. The children who are registered in the sponsorship programme of Adopt a Child are constantly every eight weeks receiving a food package containing pasta, rice, oil, sugar, etc. This package has been a blessing to each child and family in the village.
