My Story

Hello! I greet you in the name of Jesus hoping you are fine. Praise the Lord my family and I continue attending Catholic Church; we go twice a week. My mother has accepted Jesus in her heart. Thankfully, I am healthy and so is my family. My mother is Guadalupe Ruiz, and she is 42 years old. She does the housework and goes to sell the products that my father harvests in the market; she goes on Saturday and Sunday. She also raises hens. My father is Tereso Hernandez Ajqui, and he is 41 years old. He does farm work, and he grows radishes, onions, cucumbers, coriander, and some herbs to sell and give financial support to our family.

I am Francisco Alexander Hernandez Ruiz, and I am a 12-year-old boy. I was a fifth-grade student; I received classes at school which helped me a lot. I was so happy because I met new friends. I appreciate so much the effort that my parents made to supply what I needed for school this year. My dream is to continue with my studies and become a mechanic in the future. I speak the K'iche´ Mayan dialect as my native language and have some knowledge of Spanish. However, I would like to enhance my proficiency in Spanish to communicate better with others. Playing football is so much fun; it is my favorite sport. Let me tell you that here in Guatemala, we have a protein drink called “Incaparina” which is delicious and is my favorite drink. Something I love on my birthday is receiving gifts; my family makes my day so special. I like Christmas time because of the firecrackers; I light some of them and I have a lot of fun with my siblings and friends. I take this opportunity to give thanks for the support I receive through Living Water; I am so blessed to be part of the program and receive my meals. We are in need of groceries, and corn.
