My Story

Hallo! My name is Glorja Laraku. I am a 11 years old and my birthday is on 15th January. I am doing well and enjoy good health. My favorite color is pink and my future dream is to study visual arts and become an artist painter. I frequent sixth grade of school and enjoy learning. The subject that I like to study the best at school is Mathematics. I spend a lot of time with my classmates during the time we are present at school and I love them all. I have many friends and after we finish school, we stay playing for a bit longer. The winter is present and as soon as we finish with school we walk back in our houses and this is because the weather is cold. Even through, while walking, my friends and I have lots of fun while talking to one another. I have to spend many hours inside and usually, I like to study or read outside school books. I spend a while to be close to my grandparents so I can help them in any need they have of me to be of help. I live with my family in a village that belongs to the community of Prrenjas. The town is not far so we travel to do shopping or receive services from the local offices or hospitals. Our high school is also in this town. I have six members in my family who are my grandparents, parents, older brother and myself. My older brother is 17 years old and he frequents high school in the town of Prrenjas. He is also in the program. My grandmother and grandfather live in our home and are part of my family. In the past they used to work in agriculture. They are both retired now and receive retiring pensions. Their pensions are small therefore they depend on my family to provide all that they need. We own our land but we are not dealing with farming any longer and my parents have chosen to keep no animals. My mother still plants vegetables in our garden which we consume fresh and without buying from others. My father goes to work in Greece and during this year he had a job in construction. He provides for us by working there. We are happy for this opportunity he has, even that we miss him while he is not in the house. My mother gets very busy and her day is full. Besides working in the garden, she does housekeeping, cleaning, washes our clothes, cooks our meals, etc. She cares especially for both my grandparents being elderly. When my father goes in Grece, she becomes our household. Our family is not very poor, even though, we are living with low income. I frequent the program of Adopt a Child twice every week and learn about God. I am thankful to the program for the food packages that we receive constantly. My brother and I receive two packages and the food is used for our whole family. Thank you from our hearts for your support and care. God bless you for in your kindness and generosity
