My Story

Hello! I greet you cordially and hope you have a brilliant and blessed day. In this opportunity, I want to share some news about my family and me through this letter. My name is Deisy Estefani Chingo Grave and I am 10 years old. I want to let you know that we continue attending the Prince of Peace Church once a week.  Thank you to the LW evangelism team for their encouraging words to my mother during the visit. So, she has Jesus in her heart. My mother`s name is Angelica Esperanza Grave Grave. She is 30 years old. At the moment, she earns a living by working as a maid in Zacualpa town 3 or 4 days a week. In addition, she raises hens at home. As you know, my father is in the United States. Unfortunately, he is not contributing financially to us and he has no communication with our family. So, my mother is the only one that supports us financially. Thank God, my family and I are in good health. My family and I are grateful to Living Water because I receive medical and dental attention in the LW clinics. In addition, I have a meal and spiritual support at the Feeding Program.

This year I am in 4th grade at school. I receive face-to-face classes every day and I am learning a lot about homework with this study method due to the best explanation that my teachers give. Thank God, my mother is making an effort to support my brother and me at school in spite of the school fees being so expensive and that she does not have a stable job. I want to become a maid when I am older. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn English; I think this is a very interesting language. Christmas is my favorite celebration of the year because I like to eat “tamales” (a typical dish). I like to drink “atol de masa” (a hot drink made of mashed corn). I like to celebrate my birthday with a delicious cake that my mother buys for me only when she has a little extra money. Among sports, I like cycling.  As a humble family, our current needs are groceries and corn. Thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive every December. I hope you like to read my letter. May God bless you!

Kisses and hugs,

Deisy Estefani Chingo Grave
