My Story

Hello! It is a pleasure to greet you in this opportunity hoping you are fine with your family. I am Martina Isabel Toma Castro. I am 12 years old and I want to share a little about my family and me through this letter. My mother`s name is Saira Maribel Castro Gonzalez. She is 32 years old. Nowadays, she continues working in her own tortillas business. In addition, she is raising hens to sell the eggs and get some income. My father`s name is Miguel Toma Luis and he is 33 years old. Nowadays, he earns a living by working as a mason helper 3 days a week and he supports us with home expenses. By the grace of God, we continue attending the Chosen Remainder Church 2 or 3 times a month. As a big and humble family, our current needs are groceries and clothes. We are grateful to the LW evangelism team who shared the gospel and for their encouraging words during the visit to my mother. I want to let you know that all my family and I are in good health.

This year I am in 5th grade at school. I continue receiving face-to-face classes every day and I prefer this study method because I learn a lot. My parents strive to support my siblings and me at school. Nowadays, school fees are expensive, and sometimes it is difficult to cover all expenses due to a lack of stable jobs. I speak Spanish where I live, but I would like to learn the Quiche Mayan dialect and to have good communication with other people. In the future, I want to become an engineer. My favorite celebration of the year is Christmas because we spend time with the family and our custom is to eat “tamales” (a typical dish). “Mosh” is the beverage that I prefer (a hot drink made with oatmeal). Among sports, I prefer soccer. We are grateful to Living Water because I receive the meals, medical and dental attention, and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive at the end of the year. I love you so much and I am thinking of you!

Hugs and kisses,

Martina Isabel Toma Castro
