My Story

Before anything else, thank you so much for taking the time to read my news. This is your sponsored child Juan Gerardy, and I hope this letter finds you blessed and joyful. As you know, I am a Catholic and attend church with my family three times weekly. My father, Ramiro Chingo, is 48 years old. He makes a living as a day laborer and cuts coffee beans from November to March at the coast. Besides that, he raises corn and beans for our family’s consumption. My mother also strives a lot at home. She is a housewife, weaves, and raises goats, pigs, sheep, hens, and cows. Thanks to her sales, it has been easier to pay for my school expenses. Our necessities are many, but our current priorities are food supplies and clothes. Thankfully, my parents and siblings are in good health. This year, I am a sixth grader. I receive face-to-face classes. and I like it because there is more time to learn and understand the lessons. I like raising domestic animals, so my dream is to work and to have my own farm.

Christmastime is the best because my whole family and I gather to celebrate and enjoy delicious tamales (a typical dish). We sometimes take advantage of this time to go for walks. The Quiche dialect is my native language, although I would like to improve my Spanish knowledge, since I know a few words. I turned twelve years old in May. I usually wake up excited, get ready to start my day and share my happiness with my family to celebrate my birthday. Thankfully, I am healthy. My favorite sport is soccer, and I like drinking sodas, especially Pepsi. This is all for now, but before saying goodbye, let me tell you that LW is a meaningful and worthy project for us because of the material and spiritual support. Besides that, a teacher of the evangelism team shared the gospel and encouraged my family through my brother, Carlos, to continue trusting in God. The teacher of the evangelism team took advantage of that moment to collect this information for you. See you later!

Cordiality yours,

Juan Gerardy Chingo Morente
