My Story

I am so happy to say hello to you through this letter. My name is Angela Mariely, and I want to tell you about my life. I hope everything is going well with you. Let me tell you that my family and I still attend a Catholic Charismatic Renewal Church on Tuesdays. My father continues making a living as a farmer and day laborer. His name is Higinio Tzoy Morente, and he is 51 years old. He also grows corn, beans, and lemons for our family’s consumption. My mom, Maria Riz Hernandez, is 44 years old. She keeps busy doing the chores, weaving typical clothes, and raising domestic animals. She raises turkeys, pigs, hens, and some cows to sell. Thankfully, we are all in good health. However, my father has had problems with alcohol lately. Therefore, I would love to count on your prayers for him. That situation has affected us economically and morally.

As for me, let me tell you that I am 15 years old. The economic situation of my family is not going well. I did not attend school due to that. Today, I work as a domestic employee in Zacualpa town. There are many things that I would love to do when I am older. Some of them are to become a merchant and speak English. My native language is the Kiche dialect. The rainy season is the best because I enjoy playing under the raindrops. I love drinking atoles, especially Incaparina (it is a typical hot drink prepared with corn). When my birthday comes, I feel so happy. What I love the most is having a special lunch to celebrate my birthday. There are many sports, but my favorite is soccer. To end this letter, I want you to know that my mom helped me to give all this information to a teacher of LW to update you about my life. Besides that, I want you to know that LW has been a great blessing for my family. I say goodbye to you for now, but I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,

Angela Mariely Tzoy Riz
