My Story

I greet you by this letter and I wish you many successes in your daily life. I am Brenda Hermelinda De La Cruz De La Cruz and I am 15 years old. I am so happy to share with you a little about my family and me. My mother`s name is Isabel De La Cruz Garcia. She is 45 years old. Nowadays, she is a housewife and continues raising hens, turkeys, and pigs to sell and get some income. My father`s name is Ismael De La Cruz Garcia and he is 45 years old. At the moment, he earns a living by working as a farmer and day laborer.  As a big and humble family, our current need is corn and groceries. We grow corn for family consumption. At the moment, we are attending the Catholic Church every Monday and Thursday. Thank you to the LW evangelism team who encouraged me to seek God. I want to tell you that by the grace of God, all my family and I are in good health.

This year I no longer attend school and last year I passed 6^th grade. At the moment, I help my mother doing chores at home. I wash the clothes and I sweep the floor. My dream is to travel to Guatemala City and work in a tortillas business. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn English; I think this is a very interesting language. My favorite celebration of the year is “New Year” because our custom is to eat “tamales” (a typical dish) and we light fireworks. My favorite beverage is “atol de masa” (a hot beverage made with corn flour). Among sports, I prefer to play soccer. I do not celebrate my birthday due to a lack of financial resources. We are grateful to Living Water because I receive the meals, medical and dental attention, and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive at year`s end.
