My Story

Hello! It is a tremendous blessing to greet you from the beautiful Chixocol village. My full name is Jennyfer Jessenia Garcia Simaj, and I want to tell you a little about my life. I am 13 years old and work in a place where they prepare and sell Guatemalan food. I do my best to help my family financially. I attended sixth grade last year. I could not continue studying because of our low economic situation. I am so happy because I have been working there for one month. By the grace of the Lord, everything has gone well at work. I identify with my mom because she likes washing clothes like me. She is dedicated to taking care of our family. She also raises and sells hens to contribute to the expenses at home.

I want you to know that she was glad to help me write this letter for you. My father is a day laborer and works hard to bring the daily bread home. We attend a local Christian church. I like going there because I have learned that Jesus is the one who gives us life in abundance. Our favorite activity at church is celebrating Thanksgiving. To end this letter, I want to tell you about my best friend. Her name is Manuela, and I met her at school. We enjoy talking when get together. Sending you huge hugs.
