My Story

It is a wonderful day to send my greetings, and I hope you and your lovely family are doing great! This time LW staff shared the gospel and encouraged us to look for a church to attend and seek God; we appreciate so much that they are worried about our spiritual life. Thankfully, I am healthy and so is my family. My mother is Manuela Morales Riquiac, and she is 34 years old. She helps my father to get income, and she sells vegetables in the plaza on market days. My father is Alfredo Garcia, and he is 34 years old. He has a veggies business, and in this way, he supplies the family’s needs. We do not raise domestic animals or grow anything because we do not have space to do it.

I am Edyn Manuel Garcia Morales, and I am a 15-year-old boy. This year I am repeating 6^th grade; fortunately, my classes at school and my learning are better now. Nowadays, school supplies are very expensive, and it is hard for my parents to cover them because of a lack of resources. My dream is to help my family economically, and someday, I would like to travel to the United States. I speak the K'iche´ Mayan dialect as my native language and have some knowledge of Spanish. However, I would like to enhance my proficiency in Spanish to communicate better with others. I love spending time with my family at Christmas, and we usually eat “tamales” (a typical dish) at Christmas Eve dinner. Due to limited resources, we do not have birthdays celebrations, but I would like to have a cake to share with my family. I like to play football in my free time; it is the sport I like the most. Let me tell you that here in Guatemala, we have a protein drink called “Incaparina” which is delicious and is my favorite drink. I am so blessed to receive tasty meals in the feeding program and also receive medical care at the LW clinics; God is so good to me and my family. The most needed item at home is corn to prepare our tortillas. With much love. Every blessing to you!
