My Story

Hello! It is my pleasure to greet you. I want to share with you some news about my family and me. This is Maria Angelica Morente Calachij, and my age is 13 years old. At the moment, we are attending Assembly of God Church every Tuesday and Friday. Thank God we trust in him, and we are sure of our salvation. My mother`s name is Maria Calachij Morente and she is 52 years old. Currently, she continues doing chores at home, weaving typical clothes and raising hens and sheep for selling and getting some income. My father’s name is Jose Maria Morente and he is 57 years old. Currently, he continues leaving and working as a day laborer in the United States. We get in communication with him, and he supports the family economically. Thankfully, all my family and I are in good health.

This year, I am in 6th. grade at school, and I am receiving face-to-face classes every day. I like this study method because I learn a lot and improve my subjects. My parents strive to support my brother and me at school. Nowadays, school fees are expensive and sometimes it is difficult to cover all expenses. When I grow up, I would like to work in a tortillas business. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish to communicate better with other people. My favorite celebration of the year is the town´s fair because fair rides and attractions come, and I like to ride them.  My favorite beverage is lemonade. What I like to do for my birthday is to wear my newest clothes and spend the day with my family. About sports, I prefer to play soccer. My family is very grateful to Living Water because we have been blessed with meals, dental and medical clinics, and spiritual support. Thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive at the year’s end. We are a humble family, so our current needs are groceries and corn. May God bless you everywhere you are!

Best wishes,

Maria Angelica Morente Calachij
