My Story

This is Florinda, and I am happy to say hello to you this time. I hope this finds you healthy. I am twelve years old. Doing schoolwork at home, turned difficult to me, so now I am repeating fifth grade. I am receiving face-to-face classes at school three days per week, in those days, I hand in my homework to the teacher. After school, I help my mom with the chores at home and herding a few sheep. Thankfully, the feeding program is open again. The time it was closed due to the pandemic, I missed a lot the tasty lunch from it. For me to get there, it takes more than an hour by walking. Recently my father went to the United States, so now he is working for a poultry farm there, and thanks to it, he helps my family economically. My mom does weaving work and raises some chickens to provide for us financially. My family and I spend a good time in the afternoons, when we all have time to share, eat homemade snack, talk and enjoy being together.

We did celebrate Christmas by making some tamales to eat altogether. We are still attending Assembly of God Church that is located hour and a half from home by walking. We felt sad the time the church was closed due to the pandemic, so we prayed at home instead. Thank God the services are normal now. We own two-room house with separate kitchen. The house is made of mud-brick, tin sheet roof and dirt floor. It has running water and electricity. The house is in good condition. Clothing and food supplies is a basic need for us, for that reason, I thank to the feeding program for the grocery bags we received. It was all a great help for us. Thank you very much. My father always had work, thanks to God, so pandemic did not affect my family much. At the moment, my family is doing well, and so am I, thanks to God. To finish, I want you to know, I gave this information to an Evangelism team member to share with you my last news. I leave you for now. May God continue to bless you.

In God’s love,

Florinda Garcia Lopez
